Canaan

By the providence of God, Canaan Church was organized on February 21, 1999, in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Our experience at the inception of this ministry was the awareness that there was no way to give birth without pain. Canaan was birthed out of a "traditional church". Through the pain came Canaan Church, under the leadership of Ivan T. Davis, Senior Pastor. On our initial Sunday, over 100 persons united in partnership with Pastor Ivan T. Davis and Sister Cheryl M. Davis; Praise God the ministry continues to grow! Canaan Church came from the "womb of God".

The Statement of Vision

The focus and direction of Canaan Church is driven by our passion to see souls won to Christ. The "flavor" of the church is Apostolic in nature. We seek to experience, by God's grace, the power, purpose and miracles spoken of in Acts of the Apostles. Although Canaan can be described as a charismatic movement in service, there is also a balance of service and commitment to the work of the kingdom. We seek now and forever to bring "Glory to God". We will touch the world for Jesus through evangelism, witnessing, and soul winning. We are now touching the nation and the world through our radio ministry, website, television, and short wave radio. We are praising God for our meager beginnings of five months in a hotel, after which He provided us with a church building. "What a Mighty God we serve!" We are aware that God often transitions churches from traditional to apostolic, and are grateful that He called us out of "Egypt" into "Canaan". The journey is great, but our vision is clear.

God spoke a covenant word to Pastor Davis, that in Canaan, God would bring to manifestation that all promises in Him are "Yea & Amen". This is the theme of the Canaan Ministry. We see Canaan not as a place, but as a way of living. We were "New Wine" in old wine skins. In order to fulfill the mandate that God has upon our leader's life, it would have been impossible to stay in Egypt. St Mark 2:21-22
